Derek is responsible for helping Hill York provide a workplace that is as safe, hazard free, and compliant as possible.
He conducts safety trainings for the organization, oversees general health and safety policies, and helps ensure all worksites are compliant with OSHA standards. Derek also manages risk and corporate financial loss and handles claims management for auto, general liability, and workers compensation.
Developing a company-wide safety culture is Derek’s top priority. He strives to embed best-practices into every level of the organization.
Expertise
For much of his two-decade career in the industry, Derek has been a part of the Hill York team, where he has honed his HVAC expertise and management skills. His experience includes hands-on knowledge of a range of piping applications and HVAC systems in schools, hospitals, high-rises, and more, as well as significant time spent managing teams, developing construction schedules and budgets, and implementing safety procedures and policies.
Derek attended trade school with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 630. Additionally, he holds professional certifications on a variety of topics, including OSHA 500 and OSHA 30-Hour, fall protection and fall arrest, CPR and first aid, confined space, accident procedures, management, and more.
The Personal Side
During his time outside of work, Derek enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family. He is married and a proud father of one son.
